Located in Sicilly, in the province of Trapani, Barone di Serramarrocco is an ancient estate established in 1624.
Their flagship label, Serramarrocco, is a classic Bordeaux blend made up of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, grown in Sicily but possessing a distinct French soul. The older vines of this wine originate from a well-known Bordeaux Chateau, but it is the refined touch of Marco Serramarrocco, custodian of the family’s century-old tradition, that gives this wine its exquisite style.
Our featured wine of the day, a splendid 2011, has been enriched over time with a touch of magic that has given it that unparalleled elegance, balance, and composure only great bottles can boast. It retains its beautiful deep and bright ruby red color, with rich and intensely pleasing aromas of blackcurrant, sweet spices, tobacco, and a hint of pepper, blending harmoniously with salty and Mediterranean scrub nuances. Let me share a secret now: if left untouched for a while, white flowers will blossom in your glass!
Serramarrocco is incredibly fresh and yet eloquent and powerful to the sip, distinguished by its soft and silky tannins, and with balsamic finish of extended persistence. Such refinement and grace can only be found in the most exquisite bottles, trust me! Barone di Serramarrocco winery produces wine with heart, passion, and dedication, which are evident in every single sip. If only I had another bottle!
